Dr. Charles Jacobina, Executive Director
Dr. Jacobina has been the executive director of the Virginia Tech EMBA program since 2003. He was previously at The George Washington University's (GW) School of Business, where he was a faculty member and director/founder of the E-Business program. At GW he served the School of Business in other capacities such as director of external relations, director of the global business alliance program and director of the accelerated MBA program. He has also worked in alumni relations and development. As an assistant professor of marketing at GW, Jacobina received the Professor of the Year award for outstanding teaching. He taught e-marketing and commerce, strategic marketing, and healthcare marketing and designed the first e-marketing course. The course was selected by Prometheus as the "Best Practice Course." He also has held adjunct faculty positions at several other business schools. A native of Latrobe, Penn., Jacobina has a doctorate in education and a master's in management from the George Washington University and a bachelor of arts from Findlay College.
Jessica Loving, Assistant to Director
Jessica Loving earned a bachelor's in communications with concentrations in public relations and interpersonal communications at George Mason University. Before coming to the Virginia Tech EMBA program, Loving was the office manager of Equity Claims, a small insurance adjusting firm in Williamsburg, VA. There she was responsible for running the office, overseeing several adjusters, garnering new business and handling accounts receivables. Loving has wanted to pursue a career in higher education since she was an undergraduate at Mason. There she held leadership positions as orientation coordinator, head resident advisor and peer advisor.
Karime Shamloo, Assistant Director
Karime Shamloo is the Assistant Director of Virginia Tech's EMBA Program. Previously, she worked at the George Washington University where she was the Assistant Director of the Executive MBA Program in the School of Business, and later she was also Program Manager of the Higher Education Administration Doctoral Program in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development. Prior to joining GWU, she worked in the Department of Congressional and Public Affairs at the US Chamber of Commerce where she prepared grassroots action information for nationwide members, and also researched congressional bills affecting businesses. She also worked at Mount Vernon College where she directed the Business Administration undergraduate evening program and the MBA program. Ms. Shamloo holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration and a MBA from Mount Vernon College. She also holds a post graduate Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the George Washington University.
