Minimum Requirements for Admissions

Approximately 8 years of professional experience
Previous four-year degree in any field
Previous course work in, and a working knowledge of, quantitative analysis
Working knowledge of computer applications.

Application Deadline: December 1, 2009. (Rolling admissions: Processing take 2-3 weeks.
Orientation: January 14-17, 2010
Classes: Classes begin the weekend of January 29, 2010 in Falls Church, VA. The EMBA at Virginia Tech is an 18-month program with classes on alternating weekends on Fridays (2pm-9pm) and Saturdays (8:30am-5:30pm). There are 4-5 week long breaks during the summer and winter.

Application Process

Applications are now accepted for the twelve cohort, starting spring 2010. Before filling out the application for admission posted below, please send your resume to kshamloo@vt.edu. We encourage all applicants to schedule an interview after submitting the resume. Applicants to the EMBA may request to visit with a class and join any of the other Cohorts when classes are in session.   • Online Application Create your account first. When applying, make sure you select "Executive MBA" at the National Capital Region. (Click here if you want to fill out the pdf version of the application)
  • $90 Application fee. This fee will be reimbursed to Booz Allen Hamilton and L3 applicants.
  • Statement of Purpose/Essay
  • Official transcripts (from all institutions attended). We look for a 3.0 GPA in the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate coursework. The minimum 3.0 GPA requirement can be waived if the applicant has completed at least 12 credit hours of graduate coursework, or a Master's or PhD degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Official transcripts for graduate work are required as well. A GMAT score of 550 may be required if the undergraduate GPA on the last 60 credit hours is below 3.0.
  • Two letters of recommendation. One of those two letters should be from applicant's direct supervisor indicating acknowledgment of time off for a 4-day orientation, every other Friday afternoon, and a 10-day international trip. Financial support is recommended but not required.
